Possible intro to essay
In order to combat the outbreak of these drugs, companies such as TRUTH and Drug Free America were formed. With the intention to lower and usage of drugs mainly in todays youth, these companies send out activists and knowledgeable people on the subject to go to schools and talk about drugs, their usage, their influence, and the inevitable road they force their users to take. Besides sending people to schools and such places, these companies, also have many interesting and shocking ads that depict outcomes and affects of drug usage, or give statistics of drug users, in shocking but clever ways.
One such image that was produced by Drug Free America is the Your Brains on Drug commercial. The commercial is about 25 seconds long and is easy to follow. It depicts someone holding an egg over a frying pan and saying ,”This is your brain”, and then showing us the egg. Then they crack the egg and place its contents onto the sizzling pan and the per son says,”This is your brain on drugs,” and then it blacks out. Short, shocking, and to the point, but is it effective. All of there ads clearly convey or give a smart metaphor to what drugs can do to the human body and the consequences they cause in the users life. However, besides being clever and witty, do the ads carry out there over all mission of reducing the amount of drug users, and the more targeted area of young adults.

Arguments
Illegval drug use is contributed for over 33,000 deaths per year.In a list that includes heart disease, and cancer, illegal drugs are listed as one of the top 15 causes of death in the world. To combat such horrible statistics, companies such as "TRUTH" and "Drug Free America, have sprouted and are commited to reducing the death and usage of drugs. These companies use a variety of techniques such as live presentations, commercials, and advertisements to convey their message of the harmful affects and outcomes of drug usage.
Coutner Argument:
However, there are those who speculate that kids and adults choose the way they live their life and the road they take is something that cannot be changed. One chooses to start doing drugs and can if they they want to, stop just as fast as they started. Attempts by anti-drug companies do not deter drug users, just simply give them a challenge to not be a statistic.
Refuation of Counter-Argument
And they are right, people do feel as though they control their life, they control their own future. The ads don't try to force drug users to change, but give them another path to take by showing drug users what their grm future is filled with, black lungs, addiction, jail, and a horrible life.

Scholarly websites for paper
the UM library resource. I'd like to talk to Sarah Cantrell the librarian assigned to this section to see if there are other depictions of the effects of drugs that came out in the 1980's and to see if there is any information on the impact of those advertisements.

Anjela's Interview
She's going to research the history of telescopes, how they originated, who created it, and the general history of telescopes. She is also gong to discuss the parts and over workings of telescopes.
She also wants to focus on advancements and over uses and impacts of the telescope. For example, we talked about the Hubble telescope and its ability to take pictures of stars and moons hundreds of miles away. Also, she is going to include the impact that the telescope has had on the general public, how telescope kits are now being swold to intrigue the younger generations with space. She seems very interested and knowledgable int he subject and seems to be on her way in the paper.

150 word project brainstorm
So we have to write about how we try to extend our limitations of sight beyond human eye in an attempt to accumulate knowledge that wouldn’t be otherwise available. So when I see and think of this prompt, I go to old times, how did they first come to believe or imagine that there were such things as bacteria, blood cells, algae, plant cells, thing of that nature. I also think of fish finders, radar, microscopes, and a variety of medical tools. I also want to talk about why we try to push our limits and boundaries, and make new doors to open. Also, I think of chemistry and particles and atoms. Then besides looking at small things we can also examine telescopes, the whole universe and galaxy concept. Not only are we intrigued by the small but also by the large. We make space stations and Hubble telescopes to see beyond the naked eye and into uncharted universe.

Joel Sternfeld Picture (page 24 Exercise)
When i opened to the page he first thing that grabbed my attention was the picture of this God like figure that had been painted onto the bottom right of this wall.
Initial observations.
At first glance you see he writing on the wall,"When you take someones life you forfeit your own". Besides the quote itself what really got my attention wre the hand prints around the word "own". it drew my attention to the work. in the picture you also see alot of flowers and memorial objects infron fo the building next to what seems o me an orange cone. I think this cone marks the spor of where someones life was probably taken, hence the term on the wall.
Structure, point of view, metaphore in image.
I think the overall frontal view of the building makes it seem like we are actually there looking at it, adding a sort of fear in us. Like we can see that, its not in sum wierd arial angle or painting that we can't actually fo to and see it. and the use of red is very prominent. It stands out, red being the color for anger, hatred, blood, violence.

Terms from Scott McClouds "Show And Tell" (694-718)
Word Specific- combinations, where pictures illustrate, but add to a complete text
Picture Specific- is what youw old find in most comics like "Pow" or "Bang". is when the words do little more than just adding sound effects to a vissually told sequence
Duo-Specific- is when words and images send essentially the same message
Additive- occurs where an image amplifies or elaborates on words or vice versa.
Parallel- Occfurs when words and images seem to follow very different paths, as if they don't belong together at all, theres no connection
Montage- occurs when words act as parts of the the entire picture, such as replacing someones face for the letter "O" in a word.
Inter Dependent- occurs when the words seem to be needed in the image to convery and idea that if they weren't together would not be conveyed.
